Academic Probation

Junior and Senior Secondary students will be placed on academic probation for the next grading period when at the end of a grading term they have earned:

  1. An overall grade average below 60%.
  2. Failing in any course.

Academic probation is intended to be a warning to the parents and students that there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.  During the probation time, the student is not allowed to participate in any school-sponsored extracurricular activities (i.e., clubs, games, and/or watching weekend videos). It is our desire to give students on academic probation support and encouragement.  We will skillfully work with parents and students as long as there is some prospect for satisfactory achievement.  Our goal is to see each student restored to good academic standing.


The School expects students on probation to put in the time and effort it will require for academic improvement. We encourage students to be proactive in their learning by taking ownership of their academics. ACO offers the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens approach to assist them with taking responsibility for their actions and building better study habits.

The appropriate staff person will confer with the student and his/her parents through email and/or phone call to make recommendations and evaluate the student’s progress.


Student reports are reviewed in between each term and at the end of each term


Extended and remedial lessons, differentiated instructions, project-based learning (PBL), small group instruction, tutorial lessons to improve their skills in different subjects especially Science, Mathematics, and English, etc.
